When I heard Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper” for the first time, it really struck a chord with me. I immediately wanted to cover it, but didn’t have the time. Weeks went by and I began to hear more and more covers of the song, but none of these made me feel the way the original had. If I’m honest, they all sounded like poor imitations. I don’t quite understand the karaoke covers you see on YouTube. Why would you listen to somebody singing along to a karaoke-track, when you could just as easily turn on the original?

All of this made me realise, I couldn’t just play the chords and sing the words – no matter how passionate. It had to be my own. Strangely, no sooner had I thought this, than the new chords and melody fell out. I can never tell if my covers are good or bad, but with this one I know that it’s me.

I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please share it with your friends.
