A couple of years ago I did an audition for an online TV series called Green Eyed World. It was an opportunity to be flown out to New York to try and make it as a musician. It was all to be filmed, with certain scenarios scripted but the reactions were genuine. One of the scripted parts was a gig in Times Square. It was to be heavily advertised with billboards and all sorts around NY. The latest technology was going to be used PLUS YouTube, Facebook and Sprite were heavily involved…it was the opportunity of a lifetime.
The song I gave away as a free download last month – “Say Yes”, was written about this experience.
Unfortunately I lost out to a girl named Katie Vogel. I was gutted…
Anyway, this is actually a message of hope. I watched the series, and it turned out it wouldn’t have been the right thing for me.
Also, as I sit here on a Saturday night, watching the first of the auto-tuned X-factor series. It turns out Katie Vogel has changed her stagename to Katie Waissel and has had a complete makeover -

Ignoring the fact that her appearance was staged, this message is to show that things aren’t always what they seem or what you expect them to be.
That opportunity had taken over my world for a couple of weeks, I was devastated I hadn’t got the part. But I know now that it wasn’t the right thing for me. I know there are bigger, better and more suited opportunities round the corner. Within the last 6 months I’ve had more incredible experiences than I ever could have imagined last year after losing out on that audition.
So, if you’ve had a knock recently..just keep holding on. Everything happens for a reason.

p.s. This is in no way a jab at Katie – she’s obviously taking every opportunity and is still tryng..so good luck to her. As for the X-factor…as a source of entertainment, it’s great. As a source for unearthing the vocal talents of the nation..I’ll leave that for another post.

Not my favourite 10 minutes.
First off…I almost ate an entire apple before realising I’d chomped into some sort of brown furry beast. Bringing a new meaning to the joke “What’s worse than finding a worm in your apple? Finding half a worm in your apple”…or “finding half a furry beast” that tasted like ass.
Next I walk into the bathroom and find possibly the biggest spider I’ve ever seen! Seems the zoo left it’s tarantula cage unlocked. (Minor exaggeration). Either way my super hero buddy Chris Cape came and saved the day, check him out http://chriscape.com
