So I was in the hairdresser the other day and was given a magazine to read. Inside there was an article about people over in America legally allowed to carry guns on display. It interviewed several woman that have their gun on display 24 hours a day.

They had 2 fair points -

1. It’s a visible deterrent for criminals that might want to steal your purse or harm you in some way.
2. If guns are illegal, then only the bad guys own them.

Still…not really a good enough excuse I don’t think. Everybody’s got a little “crazy” in them, friendly decent people all have the capability to snap. Imagine if they snap with a gun in their belt? Are you insane!?! Do they take their guns with them when they go out drinking? I can see these getting in the wrong hands. What if you’re ill one day or you pass out or something, anyone can take it, a child could take it and play with it. 

The whole thing is ridiculous. We need to all look out for each other, it’s not every man for himself. You can’t go round your life carrying a gun just incase someone tries to attack you…and what are you gonna do anyway? Shoot them? Kill them? How could you live with yourself?

I really love Maria Mena at the moment. Really simple singer/songwriter stuff singing what all singer/songwriters sing about – love and heartbreak. But she does it really nice. It’s easy listening and beautiful. It’s not necessarily anything you haven’t heard before, but it’s perfect.

I tried the whole regular posting thing. It got old very fast. I’m a musician, what can I say? What I feel like doing changes regularly. Right now it’s got to the point where I’m so busy I can’t do anything regular for you guys…but maybe that makes it more exciting???

Loads has happened since the last update, highlights included Beach Break + meeting Plan B backstage, going to Perez Hiltons party (and almost playing) and playing at a “topping out” ceremony for a new venue in Guildford. 

Plan B backstage: I have to be honest, I don’t remember it very well. But he was a lovely chap. I think next time I’ll remember not to drink so much.

Perez Hilton’s One Night In London: Awesome party. If you haven’t heard of “Peaches” you need to go and check her out. I wish I could find a photo of me somewhere. I had a new custom made dress on and everyone was taking photos of it, but stupidly I didn’t think to ask them where they’d post the photos – if any of you guys happen to see a heart star on a lilac obscure dress LET ME KNOW! cause it’s probably me.

Guildfords latest venue: SOOOO Guildford (where I’m living for the next month) has a brand new venue to replace the old Civic Hall. It can hold 1700 people and I was one of the first performers to play in it. It was kind of cool cause it was still a building site. I performed to the mayor, political people, journalists and builders…not my usual, but it was cool. Somehow I ended up in the newspaper for it, so that’s all kind of cool. Next show is @ Proud Galleries in Camden (London) on Monday 19th July, we’re on at 9pm sharp, but doors open at 7. There’s gonna be some market stuff inside, it sounds interesting so I’d come along early to check it all out. 

If I had the money I’d go into Office tomorrow and buy these 3.

Update 07/07/10

So, I bought these on Saturday, wore them for a max of 5 hours indoors…and they’re damaged. Topshop won’t take them back. £68 for the cheapest suede ever. HARSH.
